What is Desi Girl Fitness?


Desi girl fitness. ugh.. what a concept!!

Growing up in a household on a daily dose of white rice and the constant checking in of "did you eat yet?"

How can a desi girl start down this road of being fit without mommy and the aunties saying ..betaaaa what is this, you are to thin! How will any boy marry you, you need to be healthy. ( code word for having meat on your bones)

Usually fitness in the desi household means, control your eating,and looking pretty, but forgetting the other elements such as exercising and mental health.  

Uh oh the word exercising in the desi vocabulary mean muscle... yup you can hear it right...

Ayeee.. muscle on a girl, that is only for boys!

As a desi girl I am here to tell you , it is not a bad thing to be physically fit as a girl. As a matter of fact healthy muscles are the key to a healthy lifestyle, from cleaning to cooking. ( how else would you expect to make someone a good desi wife).

Through my blogging my goal is to  inspire and shape the desi girl's mentality that it is not just about being healthy ( not the desi definition :)  but, also how to incorporate mental fitness. A good fitness regimen starts with making several lifestyle changes, starting with yourself. ( Hey let's face it when you wear the lehengas or sari's you want to look good!! ) :)


By lifestyle changes I don't mean giving up culture, just how to incorporate healthy choices in your daily life. So come follow me and drop me a line and let me know how are you are doing.
